Diploma programs in Australia sit at AQF Level 5 and, as the course entry notes, typically span around 12 to 18 months of full-time study. As an indication only, diploma-level study commonly falls in the range of roughly AUD 10,000 to AUD 22,000 in total, with the exact figure depending heavily on the field, the provider and the campus location.
Most registered training organisations offer several intakes a year - frequently around February, April or May, July and October - so you can choose a start date that suits your visa timeline and your chosen field. Some diplomas also include work-integrated learning, which can influence the overall length of the program.

A diploma can support a skilled migration application where it satisfies the qualification component for an eligible occupation. After completing your diploma, eligible graduates may be able to apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to gain Australian work experience, then pursue a skills assessment in their occupation. Where the occupation is supported by a state or territory, you may be eligible to be considered for the subclass 190 (state nominated) or subclass 491 (regional), subject to your points, a successful skills assessment and current requirements.
