What You'll Study

Active Study offers a diverse range of Diploma courses for international students, designed to provide comprehensive education and practical skills to kickstart your career in various fields. A diploma from a registered Australian provider is a powerful signal to employers and the Department of Home Affairs alike.

Diploma programs are available across a wide range of disciplines including business, IT, community services, hospitality, construction, and health support. Each diploma is structured at AQF Level 5, combining core theoretical units with specialist electives relevant to your chosen career field.

Study typically spans 12 to 18 months of full-time learning, blending classroom instruction, online modules, case studies, and work-integrated learning. Assessments are competency-based, reflecting real-world professional standards.

All diploma qualifications offered by Australian registered training organisations (RTOs) are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Cost and duration of Diploma courses in Australia

Fees & Timeline

Cost, Duration & Intake Dates

Diploma programs in Australia sit at AQF Level 5 and, as the course entry notes, typically span around 12 to 18 months of full-time study. They are available across a wide range of disciplines - including business, IT, community services, hospitality, construction and health support - and combine core theory with specialist electives. As an indication only, diploma-level study commonly falls in the range of roughly AUD 10,000 to AUD 22,000 in total, with the exact figure depending heavily on the field, the provider and the campus location.

Most registered training organisations offer several intakes a year - frequently around February, April or May, July and October - so you can choose a start date that suits your visa timeline and your chosen field. Some diplomas also include work-integrated learning, which can influence the overall length of the program.

These figures are indicative and change over time. Active Study compares registered providers across our office network, confirms the current published fees and intake dates for your chosen discipline, and helps you enrol in the diploma that best supports your career and migration goals.

Permanent residency pathway after a Diploma course in Australia

Study to PR

Your PR Pathway After This Course

A diploma can support a skilled migration application where it satisfies the qualification component for an eligible occupation. As the course entry notes, diploma holders in eligible occupations can apply for state-nominated skilled visas, so the pathway is generally framed around state nomination rather than a single national route - the specific occupation and state matter a great deal.

After completing your diploma, eligible graduates may be able to apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to gain Australian work experience, then pursue a skills assessment in their occupation. Where the occupation is supported by a state or territory, you may be eligible to be considered for the subclass 190 (state nominated) or subclass 491 (regional), subject to your points, a successful skills assessment and current requirements.

Because occupation lists, points thresholds and assessment rules change over time, eligibility is never guaranteed. Active Study's MARA-registered migration agents will match your diploma to the right occupation code and visa pathway and build a realistic plan for your circumstances.
