Most courses lead to a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support (Ageing), which are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Graduates work as personal care assistants, residential care workers, community care workers, and home support workers across aged-care facilities, community organisations, and private homes throughout Australia.

Cost, Duration & Intake Dates
Aged care training in Australia is delivered at AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV level in Individual Support (Ageing). A Certificate III typically runs for around 6 to 12 months of full-time study, while a Certificate IV usually takes about 12 months, with both qualifications including supervised workplace placement at approved aged-care facilities. Indicative tuition for these nationally recognised VET qualifications commonly falls in the region of AUD 8,000 to 18,000 in total, though fees vary by provider and location.
Most registered providers offer several intakes a year, with common starting points around February, April or May, July, and October, so you rarely have to wait long to begin. Because exact tuition, placement arrangements and start dates differ between training organisations, treat any figure here as indicative only. Active Study compares providers on your behalf, confirms the current fees, and matches you with a course and campus that suits your budget and timeline.
After completing your Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, the usual journey is to gain Australian work experience as a personal care or community care worker, and where eligible, apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to extend your work rights while you build your case for skilled migration.
