IT programs at this level are typically delivered as a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, sitting at AQF Levels 5 and 6. Indicative tuition usually ranges from around AUD 10,000 to AUD 18,000 in total, and can be higher where vendor certification pathways such as Cisco, Microsoft, or CompTIA are embedded. These figures are indicative only and vary by provider, specialisation, and city.
A Diploma of Information Technology typically takes around one to one-and-a-half years of full-time study, while progressing through to an Advanced Diploma generally extends the journey to roughly two years. Both qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and recognised by the Department of Home Affairs. Providers commonly offer several intakes a year, often in February, April or May, July, and October.
Because IT covers distinct streams such as networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and software development, fees and structures differ from provider to provider. Information technology is one of the strongest study areas for migration planning, but the route still depends on your circumstances. The course entry notes that ICT occupations are among the most commonly listed on Australia's MLTSSL as well as state occupation lists. Because of this national listing, eligible applicants may be able to pursue independent and nominated skilled visas such as the subclass 189, 190, and 491, subject to a positive skills assessment from the relevant ICT assessing authority, your points score, and the current occupation lists.
