Wall and floor tiling courses cover surface preparation, waterproofing and tanking, adhesive and grout selection, layout and setting out, cutting techniques, geometric and decorative patterns, and working with ceramic, porcelain, stone, and mosaic materials.
Practical workshop sessions develop your precision, speed, and finish quality - the three metrics Australian tiling contractors use to assess a tradesperson. You will work on a variety of surfaces and layouts, from standard grids to complex feature installations.
Completion leads to a Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling - the nationally recognised AQF trade qualification required for licensing in most Australian states.
Qualified tilers work across residential and commercial construction, renovation and fit-out projects, and swimming pool installations - with consistent demand particularly in Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia.

Wall and floor tiling leads to a Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, a nationally recognised AQF Level 3 trade qualification required for licensing in most Australian states. Most providers deliver it over roughly 6 to 12 months of full-time study, with the timetable built around workshop practice that develops precision, speed and finish quality.
Indicative tuition for international students commonly sits in the AUD 8,000 to 18,000 range for the full qualification, though this varies by provider and location. Several intakes are usually offered each year, often around February, April or May, July and October, so there are regular opportunities to start.
These figures are indicative and change over time. Active Study helps you find a registered training organisation that delivers quality tiling training, then confirms the exact current fees, material costs and intake dates before you enrol.
After completing your Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, the typical journey is to gain Australian site experience, applying where eligible for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) so you can keep working on the tools while you build the evidence skilled migration requires.
As the course explains, tiling trades are eligible for state-nominated skilled visas in several states rather than sitting on a single national list, so the realistic pathway is state nomination through a subclass 190 permanent visa or a subclass 491 regional provisional visa. Whether you qualify depends on your points, a positive skills assessment and which states are currently nominating tilers.
