Cost, Duration & Intake Dates
Active Study's medical and health science pathways span AQF Certificate IV through to Diploma of Health Science. A Certificate IV typically takes around 12 months, while a Diploma usually runs for about 1 to 2 years of full-time study, with practical placement in healthcare settings built into most programs. Indicative tuition varies widely by level and provider; vocational health qualifications commonly fall in the region of AUD 9,000 to 20,000 in total, while university bridging and diploma pathways can sit higher.
Most providers offer several intakes a year, commonly around February, April or May, July, and October, giving you flexibility on when to start. Because course structures, placements and fees differ considerably between providers, the figures here are indicative only and should be confirmed before you enrol. Active Study will help you choose between a vocational diploma and a university bridging pathway, find the right provider, and obtain the exact current fees.
Your migration journey depends on the pathway you choose. Many students use a Certificate IV or Diploma of Health Science as credit toward a bachelor's degree in nursing, medicine or allied health, which then opens stronger skilled migration options. Others move directly into health support roles and, where eligible, apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to gain Australian work experience.
Medical and health science occupations are in high demand in Australia, and skilled visa options such as the subclass 189, 190 and 491 may become available depending on the specific occupation you ultimately qualify for and a successful skills assessment. Since points, occupation lists and assessment requirements change over time, any pathway is subject to current requirements and your individual circumstances, and PR cannot be guaranteed.
