Completion leads to a Certificate III in Carpentry - one of Australia's most sought-after trade qualifications - or a Certificate IV for those moving into supervisory roles.

Carpentry leads to a Certificate III in Carpentry, a nationally recognised AQF Level 3 trade qualification, with a Certificate IV available for those moving into supervisory roles. The Certificate III typically takes around 12 months of full-time study, with the timetable built around substantial workshop and, in many cases, industry-based training hours.
Indicative tuition for international students commonly sits in the AUD 8,000 to 18,000 range for the full qualification, though this varies by provider and location. Most registered training organisations offer several intakes a year, often around February, April or May, July and October, so there are regular opportunities to start.
These figures are indicative and subject to change. Active Study helps you find a provider that delivers strong, hands-on carpentry training and confirms the exact current fees, tool costs and intake dates before you enrol.
After completing your Certificate III in Carpentry, the typical journey is to gain Australian on-site experience, applying where eligible for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) so you can keep working on the tools and build the evidence skilled migration requires.
Carpentry is notably strong for migration because, as the course explains, it is listed on numerous state and territory skilled occupation lists and on the national Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). That gives graduates multiple options, including the independent subclass 189, state-nominated subclass 190, and the regional subclass 491, depending on your points and circumstances.
