Who Needs an Australian Student Visa?
Any person who is not an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen who wishes to study a full-time course of more than three months at a CRICOS-registered institution requires a Subclass 500 student visa.
Short courses of less than three months may be undertaken on a tourist visa in some circumstances, but this is subject to specific conditions and is not suitable for full academic programs.

To be eligible for the Subclass 500, you must:
Have been accepted into a CRICOS-registered course (evidenced by a Confirmation of Enrolment)
Demonstrate that you are a genuine student with genuine study intentions (the Genuine Student requirement)
Meet English language requirements (or be exempt)
Demonstrate financial capacity to meet tuition, living, and travel costs
Hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your visa

Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage: If an Australian employer offers you a position in a shortage occupation, your employer can sponsor you for this visa
Further Student Visa (Subclass 500): If you wish to undertake further study, you can apply for a new student visa
Skilled Migration Visas (189/190/491): If you meet the points requirements and your occupation is on the skills shortage list, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency
